Hourly vs shift vs monthly kitchen hire

Kitchens on SpareKitchen are priced per shift, per day or per month, and many hosts offer more than one. The right choice depends on how often you cook and how predictable your orders are. Short bookings keep costs tied to the work you have, while a monthly term gives you regular access to the same kitchen. Whichever you pick, the pricing works the same way: you pay the rent plus a flat 5% fee at checkout, with no minimum or subscription, and your first booking is fee-free.

Shift or day hire

Best if you cook occasionally, are testing a menu, or prep for markets and one-off events. You only pay for the slots you book.

Monthly hire

Best if you cook several times a week on a steady schedule. Monthly bookings are charged as a monthly subscription; the 5% fee is added on top of each month’s rent and the host receives the full rent.

Worked example

A £25/hr kitchen for a 6-hour shift is £150 rent plus a £7.50 fee, so you pay £157.50 and the host gets £150. On your first booking the fee is waived.
